News from NSCT

Well after a very busy summer, winter is now here and we move inside to a nice warm pool. We start pool sessions from 12th October 2010 till 16th December 2010 and then start again 11th January 2011 till 14th April 2011 at Taverham Hall Pool on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting at 7pm and finishing at 9pm. Due to pool and boat insurance costs rising again this year the cost will be £75.00 per session for a maximum 12 cubs / scouts / explorers this is £6.25 per person. On both evenings you will have a level 2 accompanied with level 1 instructors.

We have arranged for club nights which anyone can attend on the following dates for £5.00 per person. 9th November, 7th December, 25th January, 8th March. We have already arranged for you leaders and parent helpers on the following dates so you can get involved and have as much fun as your young people. These 2 evenings are just for over 18’s, Thursday 27th January and Tuesday 12th April.

Over the winter we still have access to a trailer of kayaks and the trailer of opens which are available for hire. During the winter we are planning a couple of flat water paddles using open boats, keep an eye on your emails and website and also Facebook.

During the summer season next year we are arranging the following courses:  Paddle power for under 16’s  1 Star training course  2 Star training course. Due to the amount of training all the courses will require 12 weeks to complete the course. We are looking at holding these courses at Decoy / Costessey / Thetford.

Please contact Sarah Peachment (contact details on contact page) as to which venue you / your troop wish to attend and numbers. The cost of these courses will be £45.00 per person.

We are also going to do a Water Activities Weekend again which will be at the end of May as normal for scouts and explorers, keep an eye on the website for booking details. I am sure we will all have a great weekend even if it does rain. Kayaks, opens, bell boats, sailing, water roller, crate stacking, archery, laser clays, climbing wall and a surprise.
